    To me it has been a great help in learning Chinese to do word-to-word translation from Chinese into German(my native language). This gives very fast a great feeling of the order of words in the Chinese language and of the use of expressions.

    Also it helps to read along the pinyin or even the word-to-word translation while listening to the text.

    But the best thing still is to travel China.
