We no longer have the need to expose our feet, in flip flops and sandals, to the fresh air and sun – because summer is at the end and winter is here. We will get a cool presents from winter – ice blocks on our feet, slippers and socks to wear. Your pins will still look stylish because the winter will bring int the new fashions when it comes to shoes we wear.
Winter 2008 looks to be an eclectic season with ballerina flats, animal prints, and boots, particularly equestrian and biker boots in vogue. You’ll find ballerina flats in all types of materials and colors, with their round toes. This winter animal prints, metallics – especially gold, and velvets are the big sellers. Some variations on the typical flat include a sexy low heel or vamp and ankle ties.
Besides red color and shiny patent look, Mary Jane’s are in fashion too. The name Mary Jane is an American term for a strap shoe or sandal that has low heels, broad, rounded and closed toes and a buckle strap across the instep and/or around the ankle. Before they were made only of black patent leather, but now it’s a bit different. Now you can find them in all kinds of materials, like canvas and suede, and in all colors of rainbow. Mary Jane’s were also primarily known as little girl’s shoes, and only occasionally as shoes for little boys. These are quite informal shoes for grown women, but at least there are more and more women who choose to wear them.
The more modern Mary Jane’s have also had heels added to them as well as thick, platform soles. Punk rockers and Goths adopted the shoes in particular, although some others would vamp up the “Lolita” look and wear them with high knit socks and a very short paid, pleated schoolgirl skirt.
One more trend that you will going to witness this winter is a high sandal that is closed. It sounds a little crazy because you would assume that your feet would freeze, but we are assured by people in the know that they are no colder than wearing regular pumps.
As you can see, there are a lot of options for you when it comes to winter shoes. Choose what fits your style best and you will be ready for the cold winter days.
