Unexpectedly Rapidly Acquiring A Classic Mustang

I really haven’t so much had any time to talk on this blog nearly as much as I might like, owing to how much I’ve been roped into helping my pops manage his wet & wild midlife crisis. True, some would argue it’s not as far out as it could be. The thing is, the way he played it out was to get himself dressed up like the Fonz, and drop by to my house and proclaim to me, in his jazziest possible vocal tone: “Get ready, dude, you and I are going to be looking for some classic Mustangs for sale. You got it, dude, I’m all set to buy an old school muscle car.”
Right then and there he & I went out to a couple of those crazy vintage car showrooms that I’m mostly convinced are not exactly legit, and I witness this wild old guy wrote a check within just a few minutes, for a very well-preserved classic Ford Mustang. It’s an intense item. It had a great sound as well.
Notice that I put about that sound in the past tense. It sounded amazing right up to the point that it stopped making any noises. The old man tells me that it is just a quick problem and that all he requires is the right part. Only thing is, it can’t possibly be as easy to find 1966 Mustang parts as it was some three decades years ago, but my Dad swears there is a pretty nice-sized market for them in spite of their age. From what I’m told the the best bet for finding parts for 1968 Mustangs is through online auctions, because you can get them rebuilt and often even brand new. Not necessarily super-cheap, however… I mean, they are 30-year-old car parts.
I guess it could’ve been worse… He could’ve decided to buy a toupee.
